CRM and automation · By Zohaib, Web Developer and SEO Specialist · Published 2026-10-11 · Updated 2026-10-19
The right HubSpot alternative depends on why you are leaving. HubSpot's CRM is still free, so most people who switch are reacting to cost or complexity once they need paid features. For a free CRM for a small team, Zoho CRM is free for up to three users. For a simple sales pipeline, Pipedrive starts at about $14 per user a month. For email automation first, ActiveCampaign or Brevo fit. If you need calls, texts, booking and funnels in one tool for a whole team, a flat-fee platform such as GoHighLevel can cost less than per-seat pricing once you have about nine users.
Below is a table that matches each need to an option, a per-seat cost worksheet, and a migration checklist. If you want a CRM built around your process rather than chosen from a list, see our GoHighLevel CRM service.
AJ Creationz sets up GoHighLevel, one of the options below, so we are not neutral. Most guides on this topic are written by software vendors who rank their own product first. Prices are third-party figures checked on 14 October 2026, and HubSpot's own pricing page would not load for us, so confirm every price on the vendor's page.
Why people look for a HubSpot alternative
The guides that rank for this search give the same reasons: prices that climb as you move from the free CRM to paid tiers, a platform that takes time to learn, features you pay for but do not use, integrations that need workarounds, and the effort of moving data. Those are the reasons to test against, not a reason to leave by default.
HubSpot's own CRM page still says the CRM is free. If you only need contacts, deals and basic tracking for a small team, staying on the free tier costs nothing, and switching may add work without saving money. Alternatives help most when you need features that sit behind HubSpot's paid plans.
Which HubSpot alternative fits which need
| If you need | Look at | Entry price | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| A free CRM for a tiny team | Zoho CRM free plan | $0 for three users | Storage and records are capped; paid plans start at about $14 a user |
| A simple sales pipeline | Pipedrive | About $14 a user (Essential); $34 and $49 on higher plans | A sales CRM, not a marketing suite; cost rises with tiers |
| Email automation first | ActiveCampaign, Brevo | ActiveCampaign from about $15 a month and scales with contacts; Brevo from about $9 a month | Brevo texts use pay-as-you-go credits |
| Deep customisation | Zoho CRM paid plans | About $14 to $52 a user | Steeper learning curve and a dense interface |
| Calls, texts, booking and funnels for a whole team | GoHighLevel | $97 a month for the platform, unlimited users, plus usage | Usage fees and text registration; see the pricing guide |
| A large team on a big CRM | Salesforce | About $25 to $165 or more a user a month | Implementation and customisation costs |
| Tool | UK price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| HubSpot Smart CRM | £0 for up to 2 users | Free tier |
| HubSpot Starter (any hub) | £18 a seat a month | Annual billing, excluding VAT |
| HubSpot Sales Hub Professional | £85 a seat a month | Annual billing, excluding VAT |
| Pipedrive | Roughly £12, £31 and £51 a user a month | Converted from dollar list prices by the source |
| GoHighLevel | Quoted in US dollars ($97 a month) | Your card provider converts at its own rate |
A note on bias: EngageBay's guide ranks EngageBay first, and Softr's guide ranks Softr first. That is normal for vendor-written lists. Use them for prices and feature lists, and make your own call on fit.
Per-seat or flat price: where the cost crosses over
Most CRMs charge per user. A flat-fee platform charges per account and lets you add users free. The break-even depends on team size.
| Users | Per-seat tool at $14 a user | GoHighLevel Starter, plan only | GoHighLevel Starter with light usage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $14 | $97 | $122 |
| 3 | $42 | $97 | $122 |
| 5 | $70 | $97 | $122 |
| 7 | $98 | $97 | $122 |
| 10 | $140 | $97 | $122 |
Read the table both ways. Under about seven users, a per-seat CRM is cheaper on the plan fee alone. Above that, a flat fee wins, but only if you use what it includes. If you only need a pipeline, a flat-fee platform is shelf space. For a full breakdown of the flat-fee side, see GoHighLevel pricing.
What HubSpot costs, and why we are not quoting a number
Third-party sources give conflicting prices for HubSpot's paid plans, and its pricing page did not load for us. One agency's calculation puts five seats of Sales Hub Professional at about $17,700 over three years at 2026 list prices, which is roughly $490 a month. Treat that as one agency's figure and check HubSpot's current page, since the plan names and prices change often.

Moving off HubSpot: a migration checklist
- 01Export contacts, companies, deals, notes and custom properties, and keep a copy of everything before you change anything.
- 02List what you actually use: forms, email sequences, meeting links, reports and integrations. Move those first.
- 03Map fields from the old CRM to the new one, including deal stages and lead sources, so reports still make sense.
- 04Rebuild forms and tracking, then test a real submission end to end.
- 05Run both systems in parallel for about two weeks before you cancel, and check that follow-ups still fire.
- 06Update email sending domains and unsubscribe handling, and check consent for any texting.
Where GoHighLevel fits, and where it does not
- A good fit: service businesses that run on calls, texts, forms and bookings, want funnels and a CRM in one place, and have several people who need access.
- A weaker fit: a solo operator with a short contact list, an online store built around Shopify, or a team tied to deep Salesforce or accounting integrations.
If you choose it, build one real pipeline in the free 14-day trial before you commit, and register for texting on day one.
How to choose: five questions
- 01How many people need access in the first year, and how many in three years?
- 02Which channels must the CRM run: email, texts, calls, booking, forms?
- 03Which paid HubSpot feature are you trying to replace, and does the alternative include it?
- 04What does the all-in monthly cost look like at your volumes, including usage?
- 05Who will set it up, and how long will migration take?

What is the best free alternative to HubSpot?
HubSpot's own CRM is still free. Among alternatives, Zoho CRM has a free plan for up to three users, and EngageBay lists a free plan. Free plans cap users, records or features, so check the limits.
What is the cheapest HubSpot alternative?
Entry prices cluster around $9 to $15 a month or per user: Brevo from about $9 a month, and Zoho CRM and Pipedrive from about $14 a user. The cheapest total depends on team size and the channels you need.
Is HubSpot CRM really free?
HubSpot's CRM page says the CRM is free. Paid tiers add marketing, sales and service features, and their prices vary by source, so check HubSpot's pricing page.
Is GoHighLevel a HubSpot alternative?
For some businesses. It combines a CRM with texts, calls, booking and funnels at a flat fee per account. It suits teams that want those channels together. It is a weaker fit for a simple pipeline or a Shopify-based store.
Pipedrive or HubSpot for a small sales team?
Pipedrive is a pipeline-first sales CRM from about $14 a user. HubSpot has a free CRM and a wider suite at higher tiers. If you only need deal tracking, price the paid tier you would really use.
Is Zoho CRM better than HubSpot?
They suit different needs. HubSpot has a free CRM and a wider suite at higher tiers. Zoho has a free plan for three users and paid plans from about $14 a user, with more room to customise. Compare them on the features you would use.
Which CRM has SMS and booking built in?
GoHighLevel includes texting, calling and booking calendars, with usage fees. Some email tools, such as Brevo, add texts on pay-as-you-go credits. Check text registration and rates for your country.
How hard is it to switch from HubSpot?
Moving contacts is straightforward. The work is in forms, email sequences, reports and integrations. Run both systems in parallel for about two weeks and keep a full export.
